Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity welcomes you to join in on an Interfaith Build, where volunteers support the local community by performing a variety of tasks related to home building. OPPORTUNITIES
HELP MAKE OUR WEEKLY ONEGS HAPPEN!
We're looking for volunteers to help set up or clean up our weekly onegs before Shabbat services. Onegs begin at 5:45 p.m. and end at 6:20 p.m.
Set-Up:Arrive around 4:00 p.m. Prepare and plate pre-purchased food, lay out the table, and prepare drinks so everything is ready to welcome the community.
Clean-Up:Stay after the oneg until about 6:45 p.m. Help wrap things up by storing leftovers, clearing trash, and washing any used dishes.
Whether you can lend a hand once a month or every few weeks, your help makes a big difference. Use this form to sign up and select your options! Requirements: All volunteers in the kitchen must have a current food handlers license. If you don't already have one, the temple can reimburse you for the cost of procuring one. They can be obtained online via a short, self-paced course.
REPRESENT TEMPLE BETH EL AT TACOMA PRIDE
Are you interested in representing TBE during the Tacoma Pride Festival on July 12, located in Wright Park? Volunteers will walk around the festival in special pride t-shirts, sharing materials and our Jewish Pride. If you'd like to volunteer or have questions, please contact Mady Plumer at membership@tbetacoma.org.
HELP FIND TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR ISRAELIS ABROAD
Many Israelis find themselves unexpectedly grounded in the U.S. and in other countries, without clear plans for the days ahead. Bayit Beyachad is a community-led hospitality initiative connecting Israelis currently in the U.S. and in other countries with warm and welcoming Israeli-American, Jewish and other families who can offer temporary hosting until travel back to Israel safely resumes. Sign up to find housing or offer to host by following this link.
TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT LGBTQ+ PEOPLE, IMMIGRANTS, AND REFUGEES
There are two opportunities to join RAC, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, for a virtual session that will introduce you to our campaign tools and tactics that can help you organize effectively, mobilize supporters, and influence change. Learn how to use digital platforms to amplify your voice and plan strategic actions that uplift and protect the marginalized. These identical sessions take place Wednesday, July 9, 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 10, 7:00 p.m..
