Namings and B'rit Milah

The birth of a child is a wonderful event for a family and couple. Judaism celebrates birth with the rituals of b'rit milah (covenant of circumcision) for a boy and naming for a girl.

B'rit milah is traditionally held on the eighth day of the child’s life and is performed by a mohel who is trained in ritual circumcision. The naming ceremony for a girl may be held any time after the birth.

Contact Rabbi Gorban at rabbigorban@tbetacoma.org or Cantor Fine at cantorfine@tbetacoma.org for information on receiving a Hebrew name for individuals of all ages. See below for mohalim resources.
