Shabbat Candle Lighting
At Temple Beth El, we like to invite our members to lead the congregation in lighting candles to welcome Shabbat. This includes offering an English reading and reciting the blessing* in Hebrew. Often, those who light candles are celebrating a special event or milestone.
*Please note that, since this act fulfills a commandment, at least one person lighting the Shabbat candles needs to be Jewish.

Request a Special Blessing
While blessings come to us in many different ways, and each of us can bring blessing to others and ourselves, it can be meaningful to receive a blessing from the clergy while surrounded by the community. Typically, clergy offer blessings for milestone birthdays or anniversaries, upon recovering from a major illness, before a wedding, and after conversion. Clergy may also offer blessings for other meaningful moments as requested.
Please indicate why you would like a special blessing and clergy will reach out if they have questions or want to talk about it further.

Sponsor an Oneg
Onegs are an important part of building community among our temple family. They provide us with an opportunity to personally connect with other members and old friends, and welcome others into our community. Note: onegs are now held
before
the service from 5:45–6:25 p.m.
There are three plans to choose from:
Plan #1:
No cost to you. You, family or friends would be responsible for set up and clean up, and for providing the paper products and juice or punch and all the goodies. TBE provides the coffee and coffee supplies (powdered creamer and sugar) only.
Plan #2:
The cost of this plan is $75. You would be responsible for supplying the food. The temple will take care of set up, clean up, paper products, juice or punch, coffee and coffee supplies.
Plan #3:
The cost of this plan is $175. Relax! The temple takes care of everything.
Linen tablecloths are available for use. Full details will be discussed once you register.
