Special Installation Service for Rabbi Stefan Tiwy

We are thrilled to welcome our new Interim Rabbi Stefan Tiwy! Join us for the very special Installation Shabbat on Friday, July 9th at 6:00 PM.

This will be Rabbi Tiwy's first Shabbat service at Temple Beth El. The service will also be broadcast to our Facebook page and  YouTube channel. We look forward to seeing all of you as we welcome Rabbi Tiwy to Temple Beth El!

B’ruch habah…blessed is he that comes into our community. We welcome you and look forward to a year of new moments, new understanding, and new experiences.

Rabbi Tiwy studied at the Hebrew Union College ‐ Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC ‐ JIR), New York, NY; Cincinnati, OH; Jerusalem, Israel between 2011‐2016 and was ordained as a Rabbi in 2016. He speaks several languages, including German (native), English, Spanish, Dutch, Modern Hebrew (advanced), Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Hebrew.

From Rabbi Tiwy:
“My own personal and rabbinical journey has taken me across three continents. I was born and raised in Germany and studied in Israel for two years as a young adult. I ultimately found my Jewish soul in the United States, where I have been studying, working, and living in multiple settings and locations for close to ten years now. I decided to become a rabbi to make Judaism accessible and relevant in the lives of others as it has been in my own life. My main motivation to serve as an interim rabbi stems from my own personal background and journey, during which I experienced many occurrences of transition. These not only include crossing geographical boundaries, but also choosing and embracing Judaism for myself. From my childhood onward, expanding my horizons has always been a key driving force for me, which later also came to include empowering and accompanying others on their Jewish journeys. I will do my best during the time we share to create memorable moments of learning, healing, and growth. I bring my rich knowledge base and experiences with various cultures, languages and religions providing a broader perspective. Along with my love of learning and teaching, I endeavor to support people along their Jewish journey in a kind and compassionate manner. In my eyes, this transmission of knowledge ultimately has as its goal the instilling of moral virtues, such as love, goodness and compassion, in ourselves and others.”
