Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as our 5th & 6th grade religious school teacher at Temple Beth El, Tacoma. As a teacher in our Sunday school program, you will play a vital role in educating and inspiring our students about Jewish faith, culture, traditions, and values.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to the needs and interests of students.
• Teach fundamental concepts of Judaism, including history, holidays, rituals, ethics, and Hebrew language.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to participate.
• Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources, such as storytelling, discussions, arts and crafts, music, and multimedia, to enhance learning experiences.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students, promoting Jewish values of kindness, compassion, integrity, and social responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, Jewish studies, or religious studies preferred.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Jewish history, culture, traditions, and religious texts.
• Previous experience working with children and/or teaching in an educational setting, preferably in a Jewish educational environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching and sharing Jewish heritage and values.

Schedule: Part-time, Sunday from 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m., $20/hr.
