Well, we’ve made it through another challenging year. How are you doing? What has been challenging and what has been joyous?

In these times of adapting week by week, it can be exhausting. New protocols, new variants, new designs for better protective masks, testing at schools, keeping up to date with booster shots, shut-downs of schools and work places, and loved ones being infected.

But, it has also been a time to give yourself and others a break and to think about the good in our lives: our loved ones, family, and friends. It’s a time to pay attention to others who help us time and time again. It’s a time to decide how you will choose to live and apply Jewish ideals, including pikuach nefesh, saving a life.

It’s a time to appreciate what we’re able to return to, as well as recognizing where we need to wait. It’s a time to appreciate online communication that has been a godsend to staying connected.

Change is becoming our norm.

In the coming months, there will likely be more variants to contend with. There will also be a new permanent rabbi, offering new visions that will move us forward. There will be new roles and restructuring for the cantor and the religious education director. There will be a new Director of Administration as we say goodbye to Andy Mauer who has been a member of the TBE family for so long.

Will these changes feel more like challenges, or things to embrace, explore, and make our own?

Time will tell.
